The Exposed Acne Treatment Kit

The Exposed Acne Treatment Kit

This is a review of the Exposed 4 piece trial system.  You get a Cleanser, a Clearing Tonic, An Acne Treatment Serum, and a Clear Pore Serum.  They also throw in a towel for you to scrub with, but truth be know, Scrubbing can be bad for irritating acne.

OK we DID like the fact that this acne treatment contains ingredients known to calm irritated skin and reduce inflammation.   The ingredients like olive leaf extract, green tea, and licorice are known to calm down redness and reduce the swelling and irritation often associated with acne.

Our problem with this product line is that it contains Benzoyl Peroxide as the active ingredient to fighting the acne.   Anything that the calming natural ingredients can do to clarify and sooth the skin, the Benzoyl Peroxide is more than cancelling out with its irritating properties, free radicals, and harsh chemical reactions with the skin.  dangers benzoyl peroxide

Benzoyl Peroxide is the cheap way out, for many companies to claim that they reduce acne.  While benzoyl peroxide can fight the bacteria that causes acne, it is far more dangerous than one might think.    Here are some reasons to avoid using products with Benzoyl Peroxide:

1.  The FDA changed its status from a Category I (safe) to Category III (safety unknown).

2.  Benzoyl Peroxide causes free radicals in the skin, which can cause cancer and have the same effect on the skin that unprotected sun damage can give.  So, although the skin does dry out, and possibly become less oily, the skin can increase dramatically in redness and inflammation.

3.  Because of the free radicals, the healing process is slowed down.  When it comes to acne, a big part of the “unsightlyness” is the redness and inflamation, plus the dark spots that appear after the acne is going away.  Those dark spots are the body’s way of healing the damaged skin.   That healing process is slowed down with Benzoyl Peroxide, which means THE RED OR DARK SPOTS WILL STAY THERE LONGER.

Because of this, many people report that their skin cleared up for a little while, but then it actually got MORE inflamed and Red, and looked worse than when they started. Exposed Acne Treatment can cause this exact effect, and this is why we don’t recommend it.

Lastly, the links that BP has with causing cancer, due to the free radicals, although not completely proven in studies, are enough for us to warn you about using Exposed.   Personally, if someone just says there is a CHANCE of getting something like cancer, it’s enough for me to stay away.   Other powerful acne treatments that work and sooth the skin too, are on the market, and they don’t contain dangerous ingredients.
